Daily Sales- Best day yet

Remeber the last two days, They where so bad I questioned my choices. Did I make the right decision when I quit my job? What happens if I can't sale enough? The unknown is terrifying to me. I didn't get my first sale until 1:30 in the afternoon. I got so excited I screen shotted my notifications and sent it to my husband!

I started to get more positive and kept taking photos! Then the flood happened. Left and right I was getting offers. Are you ready for numbers? I sold 18 items for a total of... (Insert drum roll)

                    $490 !!!!!!

Let's talk about a couple of these things. 

I've talked about this piece before. It's a rare piece and originally I put $1,000 on it because honestly I didn't have much to compare it to. I've slowly dropped the price and when someone offered my $100 yesterday I said YES! Turning $2 into $100 is something I'm never going to be sad about. I know a lot of people want the slow dime but I just want to make money.

I listed this item for $150, with the idea that I would get $100. I always factor in sales and best offers when I price. I got a best offer of $70 less than 24 hours after I listed it, I countered with $100 and when they came back with $80 I said yes! Again, who am I to say no to such a huge profit! When I'm buying my items for $1 a pound it just makes sense to take these offers. 

I thought I'd talk about my storage a little today. This is the bins I sort my items into by size/type-

I have an office right off of the garage, it has a full wall closet where half is used to hang jackets or special items and the other half is a tall dresser with bras & swimsuits plus shipping supplies. 

I can't stress how important it is to be organized. I had to cancel 3 sales in my first few months because I couldn't find them. I learned a hard lesson! 

Today's been full of listing and more listing! Tomorrow I'm off to the bins! 

Daily sales

9 items, $88. That was my total yesterday, I mentioned in my last post that I needed to clear $100 a day for this to work for me. I went into a clear panic mode yesterday. I didn't even have a sale until after 1pm today, but we'll talk about that tomorrow! 

Here's what sold:

All four Columbia items went to the same person. They made a bunch of low best offers but since I knew shipping would be cheap I took them to get some sort of sale. I honestly believe that eBays algorithms like stores that are active and sometimes you have to play the game.

Today I took photos of 45 of the 60 items I got at the bins yesterday and my goal was to also get them all listed but I ended up going to a impromptu dinner at a friends and only have 5 items up.

 

The Tracy Reese sweater was my big score, I buy anything with Alpaca! I also found a pair of AG men's jeans in my husbands size. It just happens to be the only brand he'll wear and he regularly drops $200 on a pair. I was SO happy to score these! For 99 cents a pound! 

 

Needless to say, if you ever find this brand buy it! 

Tip: look at zipper pulls!

I found these Lululemon pants yesterday. The hardest part about this brand is that they have rip out tags, so on a pair of pants like this where the logo has been worn off its hard to tell what you have. I was lucky enough to look at the zipper pull and see the name! I should profit about $60 from these. 

Something I learned yesterday was that Oscar De La Renta designed Boy Scouts of America shirt! I grabbed this vintage one, they sell for between $20-$30 but I just love knowing a high end designer worked with the Boy Scouts!

Pajamas and Bras are my newest loves. They are lightweight so they cost me almost nothing and shipping is a breeze. This set is two different sizes but high end enough that I know it will sell for at least $40! Don't be afraid to buy mismatched sizes!

I want to add that today was an insanely good day, I was having major panic attacks about the state of my sales and then it turned out to be my best eBay day yet. I can't wait to talk about it tomorrow! Now back to listing! 

Daily sales

Yesterday was rough. I sold 7 things for a total of $77.50, I need to clear $100 every day to make this work for my family so that's a painful number. 

My highest sale was this pair of rock climbing shoes, I took the best offer last night because I was desperate for sales. I'm still happy to turn 50 cents into $25, but I might have been able to hold out for more. Onto the positive!

I started my day at the Goodwill outlet!

I walked in at opening and this guy was hanging out in the first bin, made me giggle! 

 I sourced a carload of clothes for $42. I'll break it down tomorrow and do a brand post. As I was walking out I noticed a huge Star Wars toy behind the glass case. I had aready paid so I walked back around and paid sight unseen. 

It was $10! It's missing a lot of pieces and I don't know if I'll sell it as is or buy the pieces and redo it. According to the Facebook groups I'm in someone sold one a few months ago in the same conditon for just over $100 & someone sold one last week in perfect condition for $400!! It's from the 2008 Legacy Collection. 

After the bins I had the pleasure of having major dental work and now I'm laying in bed thinking about the liquid diet I get the pleasure to consume for the next 72 hours. Tomorrow is a full day of listing, sales have been bad and my anxiety is acting up. The only thing we can do is list, list, list!!! 

Let's talk about October!

Hey guys! I've been absent for a while, I know I keep offering apologies but life is insane. A few people have been very negative about my blog and it stresses me out, hearing so many people say that this blog inspires them helps me get past the negativity that shouldn't even get to me. Thanks to all my supporters, I do this for all of us! 

On to the numbers. I had my best month ever in October. I made a total of $5,010, that's gross sales before fees & cost of goods. My estimated cash spent on new merchandise is $350. Most days I did over $100 and one day I did over $300! Here's my graph-

My goals for November are to get my listings up to 700, I currently am sitting at 390. I would love to clear $6,000 and make it to the bins at least 3 times a week. 

Here are some of my most exciting sales from the end of October:

This board game was sitting on top of a bin along with a bunch of other games that had been out for about 30 minutes. It looked cool so I grabbed it, I wrote about it when I bought it and was so happy when I sold it for $60! 

I wanted to mention this jacket because it had a flaw, it was missing the zipper pull. I bought it and clearly listed it. It sold within a couple weeks! Sometimes it's ok to buy flawed quality items as long as you make sure to make sure to include every detail in your listing.

I bought this Burberry coat about 3 months ago, from the bins, and sat on it forever. I finally listed it and it sold in about a week! 

I love this sale, the buyer paid full price and already left positive feedback! Nothing like turning $2 into $80! 

Sorry to make this so long but I also want to throw up my daily sales from yesterday to try and get myself back on track. Sunday's are normally my biggest days but I was really struggling for that one big sale. I sold 15 items for a total of $235, not a number to complain about. Here's what I sold:

Daily Sales

Hi guys! Sorry for the break, it was a long hard emotional weekend and I needed a little time to reflect. Friday night we went to a beautiful wedding then Saturday we attended a funeral for my 27 year old mentor who passed away two weeks ago. I threw my back out on Monday and overall just had a rough couple days. Anyways, back to the numbers. 

Yesterday I sold 13 items for $175. I had a pretty bad few days before that, but a lack of listing always does that to me. My week is still over $1100 so I'm happy. 

I didn't sell anything over $20 yesterday so I'll skip on mentioning those items but I did have a great sale during my absence. This Via Spigia faux suede plus size coat sold in less than 24 hours for $60. I found it at the bins, someone had thrown it back I'm guess because it was so heavy! Even if I paid $5 for it, a fast $60 return is amazing! 

I went to the bins on Tuesday and walked out with 99 pounds of merchandise! I'm sorting it tonight, it's the most I've ever gotten and pulling out my debt card was hard to do! I know it will be $99 well spent though.

Daily Sales

I sold 6 items for a total of $153 yesterday! The best part is that all of the items where decently priced, I love when my average is right around $20. Remeber that shoe bin I was able to score from a couple days ago? Two pair of the boots sold in less than a day! Here they are: 

My highest price sold item was actually a piece from my closet. The ModCloth skirt never fit me right, so I'm happy it found a new home! 

My numbers are rising! $1300 in 7 days, I can't believe it! 

I've been listing like crazy today. I've got 20 new listings up, I took pictures of 25 more and will have them up before midnight when a promo I want to take advantage of ends. Crossing my fingers it brings in a lot of sales tomorrow. 

How I shop Women's Clothing

95% of my merchandise comes from the Goodwill Outlet, AKA the Bins. A quick overview, the bins are the last chance store for items donated to Goodwill. If it doesn't sell at a main Goodwill store or they don't put it on the shelves (for whatever reason) it comes to the bins. It's called the bins because it's literally huge (10 foot by 4 foot?) bins full of unorganized items that you dig through. There's a whole process to it, but that's for another day. We're hear to talk about how I pick my clothes. 

First I go through every single item, I start at one end and work my way down. I look at every single tag. Sometimes I know just by the look of the item and sometimes I'm thrilled I looked at the tag. That ratty sweater might be Free People or Dior. Anything that looks interesting goes in my cart, I spent 3 seconds max on each item. Once my cart is full and I'm ready to leave I go through each piece one by one looking for flaws or looking up brands. Once I was in a rush and didn't do this last step, it was costly! Once I'm home I separate the items by category and then start listing.

Brands I found on my last trip-

I pulled this Tricotto tunic having no idea what it was, I knew it had a unique look, good fabric and was made in the USA. These are all things I like! I was happy I did, here's some sold listings...

I bought this Hanro night dress because it was made in Portugal for a Switzerland brand, I buy ANYTHING made there. It's always high quality.

Let's talk about bras for a second, recently I was digging in a bin and a lady rushed me to grab a bra. Then I remembered selling some of my Victoria's Secret bras for high prices. This last trip I was grabbing any bra I could. I only lucked out on one. This new with tags Bravado nursing bra.

I knew this brand from having children of my own, they are pricey and the best! 

Next up is this very unique jacket. I picked it up because it was heavy soft fabric and so cool looking. 

A lot of people don't buy jackets at the bins because they are heavy, big mistake!

They sell for a lot and move fast, this time of year especially. Here are some sold listings for this brand.

Another great seller for me is swimsuits, I shipped two off today. This one is new without tags but still has the liner. 

The brand does really well, I'm super glad I picked it up! I'll buy just about any brand of swimsuits aside from target or Walmart stuff. 

Another great find is anything Anthropologie, you can tell by the RN number (66170) that it's either Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie or Free People. They are all owned by the same company, they go in that order from lowest to highest price. Here are some pieces I found...

Their tags are usually fabric and sometimes just have a picture, use google to help you ID things. These pieces usually sell around $30 but sometimes up to $100. 

Lastly I found this Babette shirt. It was unique so I grabbed it.

Turns out this was a great find! 

Now for everything great thing I find I also get 5-10 basic "bread and butter" pieces. These are the Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Coldwater Creek, Columbia, Nike, Polo, and so on that everyone knows about. I buy these because they are great fillers. They sell for around $15-$20 and keep my numbers high. eBay likes an active store! 

I list everything with free shipping and best offer. This also helps with my search rankings and I don't have to worry about shipping feedback. Everyone has their own thoughts about this, it's just what works for me.
